A kingdom has to have 4 elements to be complete: a king, citizens, laws, and territory. In the past 2,000 years the church has known that Jesus is the King, and they have gone out to evangelize the world to create citizens for His Kingdom. But this is only half of the work. The laws of the Kingdom have yet to be studied and comprehended by most people, and there has been no territory for the Kingdom since the exile of Israel and Judah thousands of years ago. All these lands were given to Nebuchadnezzar (Jer. 27:6).
But we have finally come to the end of the “seven times” of tribulation for Jerusalem. The resurrection of the Kingdom is at hand. This does not mean that the earthly Jerusalem will be resurrected; it will be a new thing—the heavenly Jerusalem. This is the glorified Jerusalem that will be the capital of Jesus’ Universal Empire. (I like this term because of its acronym: JUE. It implies “who is a Jew?” which Paul answers in Rom. 2:29.
We are now in the time of Babylon’s destruction and uprooting, while at the same time the building phase is finally being funded and implemented. This will take time, of course, but preparations have been ongoing even before Adam sinned. God is a long-term Planner, and He is able to win in every aspect of His plan.
In this book we will study each of the four characteristics of a kingdom in terms of the Kingdom of God.
