During the past 2 years, some commentators have asserted their belief that World War 3 began with the start of the Russia-Ukraine war in February 2022. Today, with the escalation of the Israel-Iran conflict, there are many more voices making the same assertion.
First Israel bombed the Iranian consulate in Syria, an act that violated all international norms. In the past month the Israelis assassinated the chief peace negotiator of Hamas while he was in Tehran attending the inauguration of Iran’s new president. Iran vowed to retaliate for this act of international terrorism, but gave no timetable. It appears that the Israelis were disappointed that Iran did not escalate the war, since they have been trying hard to goad Iran into responding. Netanyahu has been yearning earnestly for a war with Iran, figuring that it would force the US government to enter the conflict directly.
Then last week the Israelis got tired of waiting and decided to assassinate the Lebanese leader of Hezbollah. This time they used 83 US-supplied 2,000-lb bombs to level six apartment complexes in order to reach underground bunkers. The civilian death toll has not yet had time to be determined, but estimates say that about 1,300 were killed, including women and children. This too was an act of international terrorism, according to long-established international law.
All of these terrorist acts remind us of the 1940’s, when Menachem Begin and Yitzchak Shamir were terrorizing Palestine to force the British to leave the territory to them. If anyone doubts this, they should read their books. Or read my book, The Struggle for the Birthright, where I quote from their books. Their terrorist tactics were so successful that they inspired some Arabs and Palestinians to form terrorist organizations of their own.
The Gaza war did not begin on October 7, 2023, as the mainstream news tries to tell us. The success of their propaganda is due to American ignorance of history. It started more than a century ago when Zionists grabbed a significant portion of Palestine through immigration. The British government tried to slow down the illegal immigration, but they were no more successful than the US is today.
Nonetheless, 1947-1948 is a good place to start when looking at the causes of the present conflict. One must know the cause in order to come up with a solution. On November 29, 1947 the United Nations passed a Resolution authorizing a two-state solution, dividing up the land between Israelis and Palestinians. That two-state solution was never accepted by either side, until recent decades when the Palestinians and Arab states conceded that this was the only solution.
Meanwhile, Gaza in particular remained a hotbed, because it was the main Palestinian refugee camp after the conflict in 1948-1949. After the Israelis occupied all of Palestine, it has remained to this day the largest open-air concentration camp in the world. This in itself violated international law, which sets forth rules which occupational forces were to obey. In fact, the law actually gives the right to those being occupied to rebel against their occupiers.
All we hear today from western news sources is about Israel’s right to exist, based on the UN resolution in 1947. They never talk about Palestine’s right to exist. They talk about Israel’s right to defend itself, but they never talk about Palestine’s right to defend itself. That’s because the news media companies—both left and right—were captured decades ago by Zionists. So today, they claim that every time Israel bombs more apartment buildings full of Palestinian families, they say that they have bombed Hamas (and now Hezbollah). No matter that thousands of women and children are being killed.
From the year 2000 to (April) 2024 about 1,300 Israelis have been killed by terrorists. Yet just in the past 11 months the Israelis have killed more than 40,000 Palestinians—and this includes only those whose bodies were brought to the hospital to be counted. A British health organization estimated that the real number is closer to 180,000, most of whom remain buried under the rubble.
Nonetheless, the claim is that the Israelis are the victims and that the Palestinians are the terrorists.
So now Iran has been forced to retaliate, but the Israelis now speak of this as if Iran had started the conflict. Netanyahu says that Israel will respond and retaliate. I am reminded of the cartoon I saw back in the 1960’s, where the boy comes home with a black eye and explains to his father, “Joe started it when he hit me back.”
What is less apparent, it seems, is that Netanyahu wants nothing better than to have a war with Iran. First, it gives him an excuse to kill more Palestinians in his ethnic cleansing program. Second, he knows that the US State Department is Israeli occupied territory. So regardless of Biden’s public protests, genuine or not, the US government will have to bail out the Israeli military if (when) necessary.
In the 1973 Yom Kippur war, the Israelis nearly ran out of weaponry and threatened to use nuclear weapons unless the US government resupplied them immediately. Perhaps the same is true in today’s conflict. How long can the US government keep sending armaments to Israel, especially after two years of shipments to Ukraine? It seems to me that this could well determine the status of the conflict, whether it turns nuclear or not. Which side will run out of conventional weapons first??
In my view, this will remain a regional war—which is bad enough—and will not truly become a world war. I have never had any revelation that there would be a world nuclear war. My perspective is based on biblical prophecies, especially in Jeremiah 19:11 and Isaiah 29:1-6, where it seems clear that Jerusalem will be destroyed by a nuclear explosion of some sort. I do not know its origin, as Scripture does not tell us. But Iran is Persia. Persia overthrew Babylon and set the people free. I have believed for more than 40 years that Iran would someday play a repeat role in the overthrow of Mystery Babylon.
With the unfolding of current events, it seems clear that we have arrived at that point in time and that the age is about to come to a climax. The Israelis will be affected the most, but America, which is complicit in supporting Zionist terrorism, will feel the pain in many ways as well. Let us pray that God will spare as many people as possible on both sides of the coming war.
