View Full Tract ListThe well has been dug at the Bible School in Pakistan, and the community is now coming with their buckets and jars to drink this clean water. I suggested to Pastor Fiaz that he post a sign on the wall near the well, quoting Revelation 22:17,
17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost.
Fiaz liked the idea, so I have been waiting for him to send a picture of the well with the sign posted. Otherwise, I would have posted a report earlier. The well has actually been flowing for about three weeks.
To me, this well prophesies the flow of “living water” that Jesus offered the Samaritan woman at the well in John 4:13, 14. In Hebrew, the term “running water” or “flowing water” is actually “living water.” It is a type of the gospel of Christ, Jesus said, which flows from our inner being (John 7:38). If we are filled with the Spirit, we are those wells of living water from which others may drink (or hear) the word of the Lord.
On a practical level, the Bible School in Pakistan was in need of clean water. There is a well at the nearby mosque, but Christians are forbidden from taking any of their water. Now they have it, and every time they draw water from that well, they will bless us for making it possible. One well was too little for the community at large, even when limited to Muslims. Now the new well has opened up to bless the entire community.
That is the underlying significance of the quotation from Revelation 22:17. All are invited freely to “take the water of life without cost.” The Muslims themselves will see how the love of Christ extends to all people and not merely to His followers. In a land where it is against the law to evangelize Muslims, this well will stand as a silent witness to the love of Christ and to the message of the “Savior of all men” (1 Timothy 4:10).
If you can’t tell them, show them! Actions speak louder than words. This well is more important as an evangelistic tool than the books themselves. The books teach the church; the well preaches a silent message daily to the non-believers, much like the stars themselves (Psalm 19:1-4).
I just listened to a video which I believe gives us the spiritual significance of this well. It was a prophecy spoken recently in Oklahoma about “The wells of Jacob.” She talks about this starting at the 10-minute mark.
