On January 29, 2006 Chuck Pierce spoke a prophetic word in Camarillo, California in regard to a coming war with Lebanon. It has certainly come to pass, although I suspect that he and most Christians have misapplied some of it according to their understanding of "Israel." Below is the full text as it appears on the July 14, 2006 posting of www.elijahlist.com.
"In the midst of the summer at the hottest point, you will begin to see the snow of Lebanon melt. Watch as Palestine and Syria form an ungodly alliance with Lebanon. For Lebanon is at the end of the fork of the road of change for the Middle East. Lebanon will become an issue that causes the Middle East to go one way or the other."
"In the midst of the beauty and grandeur of this place, I will begin to write a new script over how the nations will realign."
"Out of Lebanon, a new wineskin will form, and a new river will begin to rise."
"I will bring conflict into Lebanon, because it is the boundary that I will deal with this year concerning My promised land of Israel. The warlike tribes of Lebanon will once again arise. But in the end, I will win this war, and the riches that have been withheld from My Kingdom plan will be released."
"Watch and see, for there is a new vision. For in the days ahead, you will hear a cry arise from the deep affliction and mourning that comes out of Lebanon. Out of the ancient city of Damascus, you will see a caravan arise. I, 'Ancient of Days,' will create a conflict in Damascus. My power will be displayed to the world, when I break the confederation of demonic hosts that are aligned against My covenant plan."
"Out of Damascus will come a new move of My Spirit. Many conversions and miracles will occur in the region that surrounds Damascus. Watch, because I am realigning the nations of this region. I will send angelic forces to guard My plan. No matter how Syria arises against that plan at this time, I will have warring angelic forces that will counteract the plan of men that are aligned with evil forces to create havoc.
Chuck Pierce writes: "Watch as Palestine and Syria form an ungodly alliance with Lebanon." There are almost no godly alliances between nations, because national leaders are nearly always driven by the carnal mind. So this is not unusual. Nonetheless, there is no question that these three nations cannot help but be deeply intertwined, since they all border the Israeli state.
"Lebanon is at the end of the fork of the road of change for the Middle East." This indicates that the fork in the road is at an END, not at the beginning. In other words, it is the beginning of the end of the divine plan for the Middle East. The conflict is about to reach a climax.
"I will bring conflict into Lebanon, because it is the boundary that I will deal with this year concerning My promised land of Israel." The boundary of the Israeli state, according to its flag, is the Nile to the Euphrates. That is what the upper and lower blue bars mean on the Israeli flag. They claim all of Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, half of Iraq, Kuwait, part of northern Saudi Arabia, and the Sinai peninsula (Egypt). Going beyond that, they believe that they will also rule the whole earth, so you will have to give up your property rights as well, if they were allowed to achieve their goals.
But God is now dealing with Lebanon as "the boundary." This is actually quite an obscure statement, and even more confusing because of the phrase, "My promised land of Israel." Which land is that? Most assume it to be Palestine itself. But as I showed in my "Judah and Joseph" series, God promised a new land to David in 2 Samuel 7:10 that would accommodate the multitude of Israelites in the dispersion.
So perhaps Chuck's prophecy is actually referencing the Western nations that comprise the ex-Israelites of the dispersion. He could also be referring to the overcomers who will rule with Him--which is God's fullest definition of "Israel," as I showed in yesterday's weblog. This would be consistent with the other parts of the prophecy which tie this conflict with the coming outpouring of the Spirit.
"Out of Lebanon, a new wineskin will form, and a new river will begin to rise." The old wineskins cannot hold the new wine that is coming. I have recognized for years that the seven bowls of wine poured out from 2000-2006 represent the "new wine" that requires new wineskins. The old way of understanding who "Israel" is, along with Old Jerusalem ideas of the Kingdom, an old temple in Jerusalem, and the belief that the Levitical priesthood with animal sacrifices will again be done there--all of this is an old wineskin that cannot comprehend the NEW thing that God is about to do.
"But in the end, I will win this war, and the riches that have been withheld from My Kingdom plan will be released." Yes, this is what Isaiah 29 clearly indicates when He says, "Woe to Ariel, to Ariel, the city where David dwelt." Ariel is the poetic name for Jerusalem. He goes on to say that HE will "distress Ariel," and says, "I will camp against thee" and "lay siege against thee."
God makes it clear that He is fighting this war, and Chuck's prophecy says that God will win the war. But Isaiah 29 makes it clear that God is the one fighting against Jerusalem and will bring it down to the ground. The description in Isaiah 29:5 and 6 is that of a nuclear explosion.
In other words, it is possible that this war with Lebanon will expand beyond its borders and will ultimately result in the destruction and overthrow of Jerusalem and the Israeli state itself. Ultimately, the purpose of the conflict is the cast out the bondwoman and her son, so that the true heirs ("Isaac") can emerge as the rightful inheritors of the Kingdom.
Through all this, there will be a tremendous outpouring of the Holy Spirit, accompanied by a great repentance (change of mind and viewpoint), not only unbelievers turning to Jesus, but also believers forsaking the old wineskins of their eschatology to conform to the divine plan for true Israel.
"I, 'Ancient of Days,' will create a conflict in Damascus . . . Out of Damascus will come a new move of My Spirit. Many conversions and miracles will occur in the region that surrounds Damascus."
In other words, God is going to do something very positive "out of Damascus." He will pour out His Spirit upon the Syrian people. "No matter how Syria [the government and religious leaders] arises against that plan at this time, I will have warring angelic forces that will counteract the plan of men. . ." Any time there is a mass conversion of Muslims to Christ, one can expect opposition from both government and religious leaders.
Yet also, keep in mind that Isaiah 17:1 has never been fulfilled: "The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is swept away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap." This will no doubt be fulfilled by the Israelis themselves, perhaps by a nuclear strike, if they feel threatened enough. The present conflict in Lebanon is being used by President Bush and Condi Rice to pick a fight with both Syria and Iran. I have no doubt that the goal is to overthrow both of those nations in order to establish Israeli security.
But in the midst of this, God will pour out His Spirit upon Lebanon and Syria. He will hear the cry of the people in their distress and will work miracles to deliver them from the Israelis who covet their land.
