Intercession for America: Part 7

In Part 5, I wrote about the "war of shields" in July of 2001 in which we took the archprince Theos captive. Recall that Theos had authority over Europe and America. We used Peniel to take him captive on July 5, not knowing that Gabriel was actually the one called to bind him. Because we did this in an unlawful manner, Theos filed a complaint in the Divine Court, which we had to answer on July 9.

Our Defense Attorney (Jesus) counseled us to repent (admit we did wrong), and then to go back in time and redo it in a lawful manner. This we did, and it resolved the problem. Except for one after-effect. Because all parties had had to appear before God in the Divine Court, the enemy now knew who we were. Up to this point, we had been hidden from view. Now we were exposed.

I have been involved in spiritual warfare for many years. Because such battles have been fought spirit vs. spirit in the heavens, we had never had any personal, in-the-world encounter with those who were engaging in spiritual warfare against us--particularly those involved in witchcraft and/or satanism. We were able to do this warfare with a certain level of anonymity. That changed when we had to appear together before the Divine Court.

Yet the Lord also compensated by releasing to us another angel which would help us to see our opposition, so that they would not have an advantage over us.

And so, the following day (July 10, 2001 at 12:36 p.m.) the spiritual battle was renewed and began to be much more personal, with Apollyon leading the attack. Apollyon is the Prince of Persia (Daniel 10:13, 20), the counterpart to Peniel. On July 11 my notes read, "Personal attack now moves to America." That evening, we were led to pray for the Overcomers, that they would not "return to Egypt."

Of course, because of the long-standing revelation, "July is like September" (from 1980), we were aware that we would probably see some manifestation of this warfare on the parallel dates in September. As it turned out, July 11's "attack on America" was manifested in the world two months later on September 11, 2001. The attack on the Twin Towers in New York was not a cause, but an effect of the spiritual warfare that had occurred two months earlier.

Furthermore, it soon became apparent why the Father had us pray that the overcomers would not "return to Egypt." It was a prayer to keep the overcomers from making the same mistake as President Bush was to make after the attack on the Twin Towers. The explanation is found in Isaiah 30 and 31. These are chapters establishing the principle that when the nation is attacked, it should repent before God, rather than rely upon "horses from Egypt" (i.e., armaments) for its protection.

Isaiah 30: 15, 16 says,

"In returning [to God] and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and confidence shall be your strength. But you would not. And you said, "No, for we will flee on horses"--therefore you shall flee! And "We will ride on swift horses"--therefore those who pursue you shall be swift!"

The divine law forbids relying upon armaments as a substitute for repentance and faith in God (Deut. 17:16). As it applies to the events of Sept. 11, 2001, it means that America should repent of its rejection of Jesus Christ and His law, recognizing that God has removed His hand of protection from us because of our rebellion against Him. Instead, we rose up to fight back, relying upon "horses" (military might). We want to fight for our "freedom" to reject God.

Sorry, but that won't work in the long run. Isaiah 30-32 is a prophecy of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, which will occur at the time of our repentance. When will that be? The only serious clue given is in Isaiah 30:25,

"There will be on every high mountain and on every high hill rivers and streams of waters [the Holy Spirit poured out upon the nations], in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall."

The attack on the Twin Towers is a striking sign that we have entered into the time when God has begun to turn our hearts in order to lay foundations for this outpouring of the Holy Spirit. That is why on Sept. 11, 2001 God caused everyone to pray "God Bless America," exactly as we had established six months earlier. The passage in Isaiah culminates in 32:15, saying,

"Until the Spirit is poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness becomes a fruitful field, and the fruitful field is counted as a forest."

In view of the fact that President Bush was going to react militarily to the Twin Towers disaster, it is significant that two months earlier, the Lord led us to pray specifically that the overcomers would not "return to Egypt." That way, the overcomers would not react as President Bush reacted--or (more importantly) the overcomers would come to see that the military option was not the biblical one. They would then repent (change their minds) and become the solution, rather than perpetuate the problem.

Getting back to the war of shields back in July 2001, the enemy threw everything it had against us on July 12-14. The point was really driven home to us at that time that it did not matter how many people (spirits) were coming against us. We would always win as long as we were on the right side of the law. This was, after all, a court battle, in which the Judge is not swayed by numbers. We would always win the battle, and even if we made a mistake, our Defense Attorney is THE BEST and always has a solution to give us the victory in the end.

On July 14 at 3:00 a.m. the battle was concluded. Apollyon was then bound at 10:01 a.m. July 15. The next day the archangels were installed over various continents to depict the Kingdom of God upon the earth. Of course, as I have said previously, this entire prayer battle established future events. It was obvious that the Kingdom of God was not yet visible in the earth. But things happen in the spirit before becoming manifest in the world. The war of shields took place in just two weeks time, but in its emergence into the world, it would take much longer.

This warfare revealed to us the end from the beginning. We know that we have won the war already. In fact, in a broader sense, the victory has always been assured from the foundation of the world, and certainly at the cross. But God has chosen to include us in the victory, instead of just doing it all Himself. In this way He teaches us, and we learn by participation to do as our Father does. Thus, the reason God leads us into any spiritual warfare is to identify with Christ as His body, doing what He does, and learning by experience.

One other curious thing occurred 1,260 days after Apollyon was bound in the spirit (July 15, 2001). We saw the in-the-world manifestation of the fall of Apollyon from the heavens to the earth on Dec. 26, 2004. It was seen in the tsunami that struck the Indian Ocean and caused havoc in Indonesia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and India. It occurred on the same time cycle as seen with the Red Dragon in Rev. 12:6.

Three days before the tsunami hit, Chuck Pierce prophesied the fall of "the dragon of Islam," which we know as Apollyon, the Prince of Persia. Unfortunately, in this fall, it destroyed many people who were attached to this dragon. That is often how casualties occur, because men's spirits are actively involved in spiritual warfare whether they know it or not. Therefore, tragically, they are affected by the overthrow of the one they follow and fight for.

The good news, however, is that now we know that the Spirit of God will soon be poured out upon them as well. They are about to be inundated by a flood of the Holy Spirit and of His divine Love.
